Friends of the Library's Little Library

The mission of the Friends of the Slayton Public Library is to promote excellence in library services by working with the library board and staff to support the library, its services, and its programs.

The 2020 annual project was the little free library located at the Pocket Park.  Judy Horn, a member of the Friends, explained, "Our group was so impressed with the mural and flowers in the Pocket Park this summer and we thought maybe we could do something to add to that space too."

We encourage you to take a book home to read.  Donations of clean, well maintained, books are accepted.

A non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our local library.

What do we do:

Volunteer

We provide volunteer assistance for library programs and events.

Fundraise

We help raise funds for the purchases of materials and items beyond the regular library budget.

Sponsor

We sponsor additional events and activities for adults, teens and children.

Advocate

We help to increase community awareness of the library's services, activities, and events.

Why is Library Service Essential to a Community?

The library's collection and services promote lifelong learning in order to create a community of well-informed individuals.

Our library is a community center where people of all ages have access to print, audio & visual materials, Internet and technology, support from skilled and knowledgeable staff, meeting spaces, educational programs, and much more.

The library is a readily available source of reliable information for personal, family and job-related purposes.

Our public library is a major contributor to the community's quality of life. It provides information, services, and entertainment in a friendly environment where all are welcome.
