Animal Licenses available from the City of Slayton

The City of Slayton requires all pet owners to license their pets by the age of six months.  Pet license fees are $25.00 for a two year period.

You will need a current copy of your pet's vaccination records.  Distemper and rabies shot dates must be provided to license your pet.  Licensing renews every two years in conjunction with vacination requirements.

Penalties for have a non-licensed pet are as follows:

• 1st Offense:  $75.00
• 2nd Offense within twelve months:  $100.00
• 3rd Offense within twelve months:  $150.00

Your pet must be leashed when off of your property.  Penalties for an animal at large are as follows:

• 1st Offense:  $50.00
• 2nd Offense within twelve months:  $100.00
• 3rd Offense within twelve months:  $150.00

You may print the form from the link provided and return it to the Slayton Police Department at 2223 Broadway Ave along with the license fee and a copy of your pet's current vaccination records.

If you have more than two pets, you must have a kennel license.  Kennel license fees are:

• 3 - 5 dogs or cats    $100.00 per year
• 6 - 12 dogs or cats  $200.00 per year

*You will not need to pay the individual license fees if you have a kennel license.
